Most fans rightly disparage this as a dark era for Bruce, but in truth his songwriting was still pretty good even though his backing musicians didn't live up to E Street's standards. I don't care for most of the shows I've heard from the U.S. shows earlier on, but I think that as the tour reached its conclusion his band found somewhat of a "groove" and the performances in Europe are by and large quite good. Even on a good night, the other band didn't bring Bruce to the heights he routinely reaches on a good night with E Street, but if you can set that aside, recordings from some of the European dates make for a nice change of pace. I think this is one of the better audience recordings from the tour; Crystal Cat took a nice-sounding audience tape and applied their typical production work to it to make this a nice listen. It sounds like the taper had a pretty good line to the PA, and there is a nice balance of instruments and vocals without too much audience intrusion. The performance itself doesn't quite match the best from the tour (my favorite is Sheffield), but it's a solid show -- you won't need to skip over many tracks to listen through it. Only the most hardcore fans would suggest that you need every '92/'93 show, but if you're a Bruce fan you might enjoy having a half-dozen from this period in your collection. I think this one would be a worthy "best of" show to have representing this point in Bruce's career. This was originally seeded to DIME in July 2006 and I don't think it has been back since. (By the way, if someone could tell me how to search the archive of shows deleted from the tracker, I would appreciate it.) Many thanks to the original seeder.
