I figured that it was time to start re-seeding many of the shows that I recorded throughout the years. Back in the heydays of FM radio, I lived in Flushing Queens, and at the time, I had an FM antennae on my roof that picked up WLIR, WNEW, WPIX, WPLJ and WFUV at their optimum. My equipment was pretty good at the time of these recordings and it's time for me to start sharing what I have again. I probably have 400 or so FM shows. Quite a few of them are from the WLIR Tuesday Night Concert series. WOW !! The response to the first POLICE shows at the Palladium and Hotel Diplomat was great. So, I've decided to continue with them and put up this gem from My Fathers Place in Roslyn Long Island. As for this show, it is the first of two MFP shows broadcast by WLIR-FM. The WLIR Tuesday Night Concert series broke so many big acts that I could not count them all. I was a regular at MFP back then and used timers and members of my family to tape the shows that I was at. Occasionally the shows would be broadcast on a different day than they were recorded on, and on holidays WLIR would run 24 or 48 hours of continuous live shows from their archives. From what I understand most of these tapes have been lost when WLIR folded. A few years ago I was contacted by an employee of the new WLIR who wanted my original recordings to fill out their library. We never managed to hook up, but I'll continue to upload them here for all to share. Enjoy it. The Police are in fine form and the material was fresh and enthusiasm was high. Bands never play as well as they do when they are on they way up and trying to hit it big. The Police let it all out here. In short order, I'll put up the Bottom Line and the second My Fathers Place shows. Keep watching this space. Some notes about the lineage. I sent my original tape to a guy known as SERIUSJOE. He re mastered the whole show and transferred it to CD for me. At the time, I did not have the capability to transfer tape to CD.. This is direct from the disc that I received back from him in FLAC format. Back when I first seeded this, there was someone who did artwork for the show. I somehow lost it. If anyone from back then still has it please put it up in the comments section. http://www.guitars101.com/forums/f145/the-police-1979-03-29-roslyn-li-fm-flac-147044.html
