Yet another entry into the Boston Police log, I think this is their third venture into the Boston Garden, and probably my favorite Police tour, Spirits in the Material World. This one even has a Secret Journey in it. The 1st 3 songs have alot of shuffling and moving around people finding their seats (which was not easy at Boston Garden.) I don't know much about this recording, but it's a decent audience recording and one of their better Boston performances. Their Paradise and Orpheum 79 shows were both released in a double live CD, so this is the only Boston Police concert I have that I can upload. They really seem to like Boston alot and make reference to playing the Paradise and now it's alot bigger. This is an energetic show, I didn't think the Secret Journey is one of the better versions,
but I don't think they play that as much as most of their set. It was nice to hear that one. Sting is off just a little in part of that, but his voice and bass are in good form for most of this show, and Andy and Stewart are in very good form for the whole show. I think it's all here, except a brief tape flip cut during Walking on the Moon, which I spliced so it's hard to even notice it's there now. Spirits, Hungry for You, Demolition Man, One world and this bed's too big... were my favorite performances in this concert, also a well-played encore medley. I don't know the tape lineage, think mine's a 2nd generation, and it does not sound "generated". If it did I'd be upping a Jethro Tull or McLaughlin torrent instead of this right now (my whole upload schedule is 3 months behind!), I did this both to contribute to the Police pre-reunion tour torrent frenzy, and because while not stellar, this is of good enough sound quality so that most fans of the Police would enjoy hearing it. It's not from my master, but it's still a glasnostrd19 upload, and that means Glasnost Radio Productions hovers over me like a god saying Only upload torrents that are of good (or better) sound quality or alot of dime people will think I'm just a nimnoid. I cannot have that. Period. Most of my ups sound better than this does, but it's the Boston Garden, and almost any of my ups from anywhere else are going to sound better than those. (that's why we now have brand new TD Banknorth Garden in its place). But despite the garage acoustics, Boston Garden's live legacy takes second to nobody. The Glasnost Radio show I used to host in the 1990's on 91.3 FM WCUW Worcester did its own little miniseries called "Live from the Grand Old Garden". (using archive recordings). This show just barely missed the cut, but in hindsight, I now realize that near the end of this tremendous great live tradition of the Boston Garden (it lasted over 
60 years, hosting Elvis Presley, James Brown, the Beatles and U-2, maybe the only place to do that anywhere in the U.S.A.), the Police made themselves a 
major part of that legacy too. I just wasn't there to see and hear any of it. Since their April 79 Paradise radio show, all the Police shows in Boston area have been to very large, enthusiastic crowds, including this one. The Police have played in some very historic places, none any more so than this one. Because it is not real great quality, and I'm not a big fan of Sting's singing, the tape has barely been played and survived over 25 years like it was just weeks old. (it's on Maxell XLII. that helps too.) It is better than I thought when I first got it some 25 years or so ago, and I gave it a little ICPVR help (individual clap peak volume reduction). The recent Houston and New Haven Police 82 torrents seeded recently here on dime are better recordings, but this is a hotter concert in my opinion. I think this may even be the last Police concert ever at the Boston Garden, because the next time the Police toured, they were literally too big for it! Had to play in the Patriots' stadium for 65,000 people! (Boston Garden can only hold about a third of that). You wanna hear how that turned out? that was posted by another uploader. the final answer so far in the Rat to Foxboro Stadium in 6 years ascent of the world's biggest pop trio. Do not sell this recording. Trade freely and losslessly.
