War Baby [4:15] 11. 2-4-6-8 Motorway [3:22] 12. Glad To Be Gay [5:47] 13. Walk On The Wild Side [3:19] Total Time: [51:18] Lineage: unknown mic (probably Sennheiser 421-S) > Sony WM-D6(cassette) > TDK SA-C90 Cassette master > Cassette playback on Pioneer CT-S550S with azimuth correction > Sony JE530 A/D (44.1k) > Nomad JB3 > .wav > Adobe Audition > .wav > CDWAV > FLAC Note: The Sony JE530 is a minidisc recorder, however a pure digital output is available when using it as a "passthrough" device. Therefore, despite the presence of a minidisc device in this lineage there is no MD / ATRAC compression. On the master, the Left channel cut out for most of 2-4-6-8 Motorway and Glad To Be Gay. These tracks were therefore mono-ised by copying the right channel (there a couple of brief bursts of stereo). I can't remember whether or not I used the Sennheisers for this show - I *think* I used them for all the performances that I taped at this festival, but I can't be certain. Editing in Adobe Audition 1.5: Adjusted speed. Reduced som microphone handling noise in the first few seconds. Removed click @ 18:24. Cross-fade to cover tape flip - I also removed 3 seconds of someone screaming very close to the microphone, at this point. You can still hear him give a couple of rowdy whoops just after the closing notes of Glad To Be Gay. Notes: Takes the first 90 seconds for the sound to settle down. This might be because of the PA, or choosing a better recording location, or finding a better position to hold the mics. I can't explain why the recording *seems* to cut in. The way the PA *seems* to be fixed - for instance the vocals adjusting to a suitable volume - within the first few seconds - suggests that this is in fact the start of the show. Perhaps what preceded it was an off-mic ad-lib, possibly whilst I was still fixing up the recording equipment. Subsequently, stereo image is mostly to the right, even though the right channel is quieter. There are some changes in the imaging, and the balance, however it is all very listenable. (And very loud climax at the very end). The weirdness in A Day In The Life (2:15) is present on the master tape - presumably it's just a confusing artifact of the echo device and the noises Tom is making at the time.
