Things don't click with the band; Adam and Larry often play out of synch and Bono forgets many of the lyrics." This is a special gift to us from danafletch, whose long history of collecting has resulted in the culmination of a monumental archive...and his willingness to share when called upon is equally remarkable. This is one of four concerts I had hoped to torrent, but my versions (trade after trade after trade) kept resulting in accumulation of a frustrating collection of lossy versions. It crossed my mind that possibly the frequency analysis actually represented the output from a low quality recorder, but Dana kindly ran his tapes for me, and has proven that there DO exist lossless, albeit mediocre, sources. So, here is the first of these...Dana sent me the entire concert in two FLAC files. After restoring to wav format with FLAC Frontend 1.7.1, I used CDWave to separate the tracks, and then ran them through CoolEdit Pro 2.0 to reduce hiss. Dana advised me to try playing with the equalization, but I did not get the sense that boosting any of the frequencies was doing anything helpful, so I ended up not performing any graphic equalization. If anyone who downloads this and listens thinks that some adjustment would, in fact, have been helpful, please feel free to chime in before any work is done on the others which will hopefully follow. I think the lesson is that you cannot create soundboard material from a tinny original recording. Justin has no description for this one...maybe if this is a new addition for him, he will also again help us with some rarities from his collection...there is mention of this one at achtungbootlegs.com, rated as "poor"...I would call Dana's version about 2.5 to 3.0 out of 5, so "fair" would be a conservative rating. Vocals are clear, bass comes through reasonably well. There are cuts between some tracks, I just left those as they were...anyone's guess if the original taper was saving tape between songs, or more likely editing had been done down the line. This is clearly a rare concert, no cover art to be found...once again hope we can get help on that issue... ~petergoode111 U2Torrents: Torrent 2736 (by petergoode)
