"40" [7:21] Per Pimm: "This is the third time U2 play the double festival of Torhout and Werchter, where they have grown from third on the bill to festival headliners. During I Will Follow Bono goes over to the photographers' pit and points at the crowd. 'See these people...they make a big, positive noise. We don't have a riot -- we have a good feeling. So take that to the cameras and take that to the people at home...' The show is good, with Knocking on Heaven's Door one of the highlights. Edge adds an extra, atmospheric piece of piano music to precede October; a beautiful, melancholy bit which could be either a leftover tune from the 'Unforgettable Fire' album sessions, or a piece recently composed for a film score that Edge is working on. Before 40 Bono says he's proud to perform on the same stage as the artists on the bill, Joe Cocker in particular, and decides 40 to Cocker. Joe Cocker, originally scheduled to appear after Depeche Mode, performs after U2's set for only about half the crowd, since most people are heading home or move to the back of the field to relax and listen to his set around campfires." As for quality here...Justin references the version I had received in trade, and his description is accurate, as usual: "The sound on this recording is a bit thin. During the '4th of July' intro, 11 O'Clock Tick Tock and I Will Follow, there are numerous dropouts and fluctuations in the volume and the sound is somewhat muffled. By Seconds the taper seems to have everything set up to his liking and the recording becomes much more consistent. The lower levels seem to be set a bit high, however, as Adam's bass comes apart a bit at times. There is very little audience noise on this recording." As Justin also notes, the first notes of Edge's pre-October piano notes were lost, but most are here. There is a different track split (10/7) on the available cover art...but the version I had received contained 14 tracks on disc 1, and five tracks on disc 2 (I have not torrented the appended "Beautiful Day" from the studio album, and a version of "The Ground Beneath Her Feet" of unknown source.) cdr (obtained in trade, unknown taper or lineage, lossless) > EAC to wav > FLAC Frontend 1.7.1. to FLAC Level 6 By http://home.mchsi.com/~petergoode111
