But, never before in this quality. In 2012 these tapes have been transferred to harddrive again from the original masters. We decided to share this with the U2 community on July 8th 2012, exactly 25 years after the concert! This show was recorded with a Sony WM-R15 recorder and Proline Arrow AST-20 cardiod microphones to two Maxell XLII tapes. These original tapes where played in a completely restored Nakamichi CR-7E cassettedeck which was connected to an Edirol R44. The Edirol has a preamp but we decided not to use it, to avoid any additional or unwanted soundadjustments. The goal was to preserve the original sound of the tapes as good as possible. The Edirol recorded the tapes in 24bit/96khz wavfiles, which are kept in the archive. After that no (real) soundrelated editing has been done. There is just no need for it. This recording by itself is just very good! The recording was normalized to 99% (peaklevel) in Wavelab 6 and fades have added to the show and at points where tapes where switched, after Sunday Bloody Sunday & after Bad. There is no music lost. Tracksplitting has been done in CDwave. For 16bit version: Tracked 24bit files converted to 44.1khz/16bit using Crystal Resampler/UV22HR Dither plugins in Wavelab 6. Traders Little Helper converted the files to FLAC (level 8) The result is a truly brilliant recording from U2's Joshua Tree period. Enjoy! A nice bonus has been added too. U2 did a soundcheck on the afternoon and part of this was recorded too by the same taper. This part also found it's way to the world earlier in history, but only in heavy edited versions. This is the raw deal. There is nothing more. Apart from some music, you can hear the taper trying his best to hang the mic on a good spot. Some amazing Belgian trafficnoise, some huge trucks and last but not least…a very suspicious securityguy. Transferred by Popmarter , Posted on U2torrents on July 8th 2012.
