Notes: "This show benefits from beautiful summer weather and an eager crowd enjoy themselves doing waves and hurling balloons around the stadium all afternoon.  Bono is very talkative.  "Whaat about this place?' he asks over the intro of I Still Haven't Found.  'Somebody said the best football team in Europe comes from this place.  I don't know if they're right or wrong.  I'll tell you after tonight.  I always just a football team by the way people rise to an occasion when on the football field.  Coming back to this country and to the cities of Rotterdam and Amsterdam has a very good feeling for U2, because this country was the first in Europe to give U2 a break.  When we came to play a little small place called the Milkyway, de Melkweg, we played to maybe one hundred people.  I just hope the same hundred people are here.  Anyway, here we are, 45, 50,000 people later, and it still feels the same for me, and I still haven't found wehat I'm looking for.'

"There is an awkward moment after Bad when Bono cautiously announces that he wants to sing a special song (hinting at Springhill Mining Disaster), but the audience happily embark on the typical Dutch 'ole ole ole' football chant.  Bono is drowned out and, realising the audience are not ready for subtlety, laughs hopelessly.  'Ah, you got your own song,' he says while Adam retaliates with the opening notes of New Year's Day.

"Before Pride Bono cheerfully asks, "You OK in the back?"  Since there is no immediate response, he mumbles, "It takes about five minutes until they hear what you're saying,' and tries again. 'Yeaaahh'  Bono sees the people up in the high seats against the clear, dark-blue summer sky.  'Have you seen the way people up in the top make this really nice silhouette?  I really like that.  Look at that,  isn't that pretty?  Oh dear, fair play to you Bono.  Having a conversation with everybody.  Isn't that what it's all about?'

"During Party Girl he thanks the audience for putting "The Joshua Tree" at No. 1 in the Dutch charts.  However, the album has been at the top position for 13 consecutive weeks but now stands at No. 2.  Someone comes onstage to tell Bono, 'Listen, there's been a big mistake,' he says apologetically, 'Somebody tells me Whitney Houston is No. 1 in Holland!'  The audience boo and Bono finishes, 'Well, wait till next week...'

At the end, Bono calls Peter-Bas M. onto the stage to help him sing "40".
