25.07.1987 Wales, Cardiff, Arms Park Joshua Tree Cardiff very good Aud. Disc 1: [47:54] 01. Stand By Me [2:16] 02. I Will Follow [4:57] 03. Trip Through Your Wires [3:17] 04. Running To Stand Still [4:22] 07. With Or Without You [7:27] 08. Party Girl [5:03] 09. 40 [6:28] JUSTIN'S NOTE: This recording is a bit crisper than "Homecoming For The Edge". The only flaw worth mentioning is a sound that can be heard when the volume level peaks. This sound mimics Bono's voice, Larry's cymbals, or whatever is producing the loud volume. I don't know how to describe it -- something like static but much lighter and not very bothersome unless you focus on it. My guess is that it was caused by the recording volume being set too high. On a few occasions a screaming woman can be heard, but thankfully she is nowhere near as bad as the crooning woman on "Homecoming For The Edge". One other thing worth mentioning. "Help" is included in its rightful place before "Bad" on this recording -- it is out of order (after "Bad") on "Homecoming For The Edge". Comments: And from the first song Bono let you know in what mood he is. "The Edge, sing the verse." He shouts to The Edge during Stand by me. The Edge, has no other choice to sing the verse... I will follow, a high energy performance. The Edge is given an early introduction from Bono...saying "Cardiff Arms Park means a lot to an Irishman..but it means even more to a Welshman like the Edge" which was met with a giant roar from the audience...Edge proceeded to futilely attempt to kick a rugby ball into the audience which hardly got off the stage...but the gesture captivated and stirred up an already enthusiastic audience. MLK is dedicated to Marten Luther King, a great American hero, at a time America need some hero's. A superb version of the song follows after this introduction. The Unforgettable fire, Larry at his best! His drum is very impressive in this song. The leadsinger has something aggressive over him this evening, a lot of songs are getting an aggressive touch, and the band follows this path. Exit is one of the songs that is played aggressive and very passionate. The audience reacts with a loud singing along. Snippet of Raiders on the storm and Gloria are included. In an aggressive mood now, Sunday bloody Sunday, is played in the same style. The audience seems to like it, they interact a lot with Bono. This recording sounds clear, crisp and full. You can hear the audience in this recording, but it ads a great live-feeling to the recording. A must have into you're collection!
