Running To Stand Still [4:37] 08. Out Of Control [4:52] 09. "40" [6:25] Comments: Where the streets have no names starts very muddy, muffled. Disappointing... The sound quality improves dramatically at pos 2:45. (Did the taper made some adjustments?) From there the recording becomes much clearer and becomes enjoyable. The band is into it this evening. Bono was very very talky. Nearly every song gets a talk or a long introduction. I will follow, an up tempo, high energy performances. First long talking by Bono is early in the show, during Trip through you're wires. He starts with "Let me talk to you for a second, Sometimes the company shows, rock and rollshows,.." The second becomes 1:30 min talking! During a great version of Still haven't found what I'm looking for, Bono confesses that the group is happy to hear U2 songs on the radio. And how happy they are that this issue changed, because there was a time it was hard to find U2 on the radio. The crowd go's ballistic! A surprise, New Year's day is played much earlier in the show than usual. Sunday bloody Sunday, is introduced by Bono with the words: This is a song, I hope one day we never have to sing it again. It's a song about the country wegrew up in. Partically a city over the border. This is a very beautiful city, this is a terrible song. Sunday bloody Sunday. Exit follows and is played hard, loud and aggressive. Snippets of Raiders on the storm and Gloria are included. The shows gets passionated from here. Helps gets a long intro, on how John Lennon not could forsee that the song Help would be interpretented completely different after 10-20 years. Bad, With or Without you, great performances. Bullet the blue sky, superb gitarsolo by The Edge, very aggressive. And the audience isn't quiet! Running to stand still, they interact a lot with the group. What a voice Bono has! Out of control, he's so fantastic! "Tonight I'm as usual full of bulshit" Bono states at the end of the show "But tonight it's miraculous dissapeart. So I say good night God bless you." Nevermind the bulshit Bono, some fans love it. Overall this is a great show, a solid recording, with a minimal audience noise that's mostly is limited to the background.
