With Or Without You [8:04] 06. 40 [7:07] Comments: This is a great recording, sound quality and clarity are excellent. Audience noise is a bit of a factor at times, but mostly between songs and never overly distracting. It sounds like the band is enjoying themselves, and the audience sounds very enthusiast and interactive. The way U2 seems to like it. This evening several songs are performed superb. I will follow, an aggressive and raw version is played. Still haven't found what I'm looking for, again this songs gets a very long introduction by Bono. He's talky this evening. Sunday bloody Sunday, the Rattle and Hum version. New Year's day, The Edges solo, fantastic! Bullet the blue sky is played very loud, aggressive and raw. Spanish Eyes, never heard a version this long, 9 minutes! Bono starts hitting a tambourine, and leads an a capella chorus. "Wey hey hey, baby hang on," he sings. When the bass joins in, Bono stops. "I was just getting it together with the folks, Adam. I thought it was pretty good! These guys are very strict, you know" Before 40 Bono mentioned the fact he brook his arm. "It looks pretty good, don't you think? For the moment I got somebody special on the road just to make sure I won't break it again. How about that? Isn't that the live of a rock and roll star?" In the mood for telling some stories, he continues "The first time we came to the US, we used to ride a little station wagon, with the gear, roadcrew, and the girls. Adam was a very hot favor up here!" Laughing in the audience! 40 a beautiful inspired version. All in all, this is an extremely solid bootleg. ------------------------------------ sjpin1: This came from my first generation tapes that I got from the taper in 1987. The taper was J.B. I have not spoke with him in 15 years or so and I do not know the whereabouts of the master. Scott Z did the transfer back in 2001. I traded it to a couple of people and one of them traded it to Justin Cook. I knew who Justin got it from tried to get him to correctly list it as a 1st gen source. He responsed by changing the name from Silver and Gold to Town Called ... For some reason the original transfer was missing Silver and Gold which was spliced in my me. The show could use a fresh transfer. The lineage would be Master>1st gen Maxell XIIS>[whatever Scott did]>CDR>SHN. The show was taped on Adam\'s side in the 1st level of stands no more then half way up the section pretty close to the stage. When Scott did the original transfer, he had an equipment failure or something and Silver and Gold was just dead air. I did my own transfer of Silver and Gold and spliced it into what Scott did. Not the prettiest way to do it, but 6 years ago it seemed like the way to go. I need to do a fresh transfer of the tape and post it.
