Songs like "God Part II", "All I Want Is You", "Van Diemen's Land" and "When Love Comes To Town" were performed rarely and this CD provides excellent versions of these songs. Of particular interest is how powerful Bono's voice is on this boot! He seems to have been on some sort of "throat steroid!" His range is fantastic and this is possibly the richest I've ever heard his voice! As for the other members of U2, they are spectacular as always. One can see The Edge start ripping into some songs, showing signs of the brilliance that he had throughout the ZOO TV shows. It is well known that U2 become even more powerful when they perform in their hometown. The reason that I personally purchased this CD was for the live version of "One Tree Hill", a 'Joshua Tree' song also infrequently performed. Bono's powerful vocals make this song even more passionate that the album version. Plus, there is a tremendous ending to this song, one that significantly contrasts the album. As for the overall sound quality, it varies at times, which is a bit strange since it is one show recorded at the same time. Disc 1 begins as U2 are already singing God Part II. Not much of the song is cut off, but we can't hear the song from the very beginning. Aside from this rather minor irritation, the crowd noise is minimal on Disc 1 and the sound quality overall is fantastic. The crowd was really into U2 that night and it almost gave me chills as I heard them beautifully sing along to the songs. Disc 2 is where the problems begin. Suddenly the sound quality seems to have dropped. Perhaps a different recorder was used for this portion of the show. No longer is the sound as crisp and clear as it was in Disc 1. This doesn't mean that the sound is terrible, just not quite as good as Disc 1. Of particular interest on Disc 2 is the version of "When Love Comes to Town" which features B.B. King. B.B. King and his ensemble are also featured on "Angel Of Harlem". There is also a point on this disc where the audience sings "Que Sera Sera" (the Doris Day song) after U2 end their "regular show" (after "Pride (In The Name Of Love)"). That was unusual, to say the least, since the audience appeared to do this all on their own. The CD beautifully ends with the audience singing "40". This is the one time that I actually enjoyed the "crowd noise". Overall I would recommend this CD. However, the amount of music is a mere 87:40 for the two discs. Some CDs I've seen have almost 70 minutes on one disc alone! But the sound quality and the semi-rare 'Rattle And Hum' songs make this a great addition to anyone's collection. "Love Rescue Me" is missing from this bootleg. X-MAS AT POINT DEPOT (which is also available on Banana Records' DESIRE VOL. 1 and DESIRE VOL. 2) is the most complete recording of the December 26, 1989 concert. It contains all of the tracks on every other December 26, 1989 concert listed in FLOM, as well as "Love Rescue Me" and the "Intro" ("Sympathy For The Devil." ST. STEPHENS AT THE POINT starts with a few seconds into "God Part II." This is the original pressing on this label.
