I think I had previously heard part of this recording that I had received from Justin Cook. However, in Justin's version, at some point in the show it switched to another recording. Interestingly enough, both recordings seem to be very bass heavy, indicating perhaps that the bass at the show was very loud? In any case, this recording is more "close" sounding than the other one if I recall, and it is not bad other than the tape hiss present and the incredible bass which I have tried to reduce but remains somewhat prevalent in some portions of the show. I first corrected the speed of the show as it was very fast. I then ran it through an EQ, reducing the very low and adding a little treble. I then did one more EQ, but just for the 50-90 Hz range, which was the loudest part. I think the bass problem still has resulted in certain portions of the show getting distorted but I think it sounds much more listenable now. Just to reiterate, I normally don't advocate doing EQs (usually we say let the listener EQ him/herself), but in this case the bass was just way too loud and I felt it was necessary. If you'd rather do this yourself go ahead and download the original. I did not do any noise reduction. A relatively energetic and fun show for the tour in my opinion, this was the last night without "Stay" played. This show is notable for a few things. First, after "Angel of Harlem," Bono attempts to go into "Norwegian Wood" but then I think the Edge comes in in the lower key and Bono does a few lines of it, which he also did on the Vertigo tour years later. "I Will Follow" is played in one of a few performances on the tour. "Bad" again ends with a bit of "Let it Be." The Edge I think forgets a line at the end of "Numb," but it's otherwise an all right performance. During "When Love Comes to Town" it sounds like Larry sings a line from the chorus around the middle of the song. A powerful uplink ends with a mother saying "The human race has lost its face." MacPhisto calls Jan Henry T. Olsen (minister of fisheries from '92-'96, according to Wikipedia). Bono kids him about something regarding whales, after which Olsen invites Bono to dinner for whale. Following this, Bono changes some of the lyrics to "Ultra Violet" to reference this, also changing some to "time's giving out, I'll soon be out of here. I won't be back, for many years." As far as I can tell, this was not a snippet of some other song, just an improv, but I am not sure. "With or Without You" is abridged, perhaps unintentionally. "Love is Blindness" begins with more spoken lyrics. Following this, Bono goes into lines from "All Along the Watchtower." and then does this again to end the song. "Can't Help Falling in Love" is not played. (the shortening of "With or Without You" and absence of the final song maybe suggest that the show was running a bit long, but who knows.)
