Comments: [Original review from Rob]: The sound quality of this CD is not the best. [New review from Steve]: In respect of the review already included in FLOM, I disagree about this bootleg's sound quality. In my opinion, it's "very good to excellent audience". One can clearly hear the audience in between tracks, but not nearly as much during the songs. Disc 1 starts with "Pop Muzik" fading in. "Honey, we're home. Where else would you wanna be?", Bono says before "Even Better Than The Real Thing". During the intro to "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", he thanks the crowd and delivers the speech about eating the monster before it could eat U2 and about "finding peace in the neon". The song segues right into "Stand By Me". Unlike during Zoo TV, there are no drums in this song. As common on the first leg of the tour, "Last Night On Earth" is played much later in the set than during later legs. Bono's microphone malfunctions at the beginning of "Until The End Of The World", leaving us without the first few lines. The Edge plays a little bit of "If God Will Send His Angels", before changing to "All I Want Is You". The transition sounds beautiful. "Staring At The Sun" is the acoustic version as U2 will play throughout the rest the tour. The Edge starts his karoake version of "Daydream Believer" but he quickly says "I think I'm busted" when The Monkees' Davey Jones (who originally wrote the song) comes onstage to sing along.
There are two skips during "Please", but I don't know if all copies are like that or just mine. Bono dedicates "Where The Streets Have No Name" to Allen Ginsberg, who has died shortly before. He also recites one of his poems, reminiscent of what he did during the 1989 Dublin shows, after Samuel Beckett's death. A little girl is bought onstage during "If You Wear That Velvet Dress". Bono asks for her name and age and then tells about his own daughter(s). It's such a sweet moment. "With Or Without You" does not contain the "We'll shine like stars"-part, unfortunately. A short version of "Unchained Melody" ends the concert. The bonus tracks are from the third night in Chicago. The sound quality's almost as good as on the Los Angeles tracks. "Miami" is mislabled as "Please" on the back cover. "Miami" and "Bullet The Sky" are both very nice additions to this bootleg. AMAZING GRACE, with the Edmonton concert played only 6 days before this one (and also by Kobra Records), offers better sound quality than this bootleg, but not by much. So you might wanna pick up both.
