Rotterdam, Netherlands. Feyenoord Stadium Disc 2 (12,13) July 25, 1997. Werchter, Belgium. Festival Grounds Disc 2 (14) July 27, 1997. Cologne, Germany. Butzweiler Hof. Disc 2 (15,16) Unknown Source Sound Quality: Very Good to excellent audience Manufacturer: Unknown Catalog: U2CD 02547 Matrix Disc 1: UNL 97-A Matrix Disc 2: UNL 97-B Barcode: None Comments: The sound quality on this bootleg is of a great standard and better than a lot of the popmart boots available. The sound is as good as one can realisticly expect of a non soundbord boot. I would say that the sound is marginally better than that of Live at Leeds and obviously not as clear as the Mexico/ Sarajevo etc recordings. Crowd noise is evidant at times but is just the right level and does not disrupt the C.D. The karaoke song is I Love You Love which is a Gary Glitter Cover and the vocals can be heard very clear unlike a lot of the karaoke songs on the bootlegs. M.L.K is a short version but Rain is full length. The bonus tracks are nothing spectacular Radar love is a bit clearer than the version from the other Rotterdam Show but the crowd noise is what makes the Rotterdam version and this one is not as enjoyable. Black Betty / Whole Lotta Love is lifted straight from a version of Discotheque and Stand By Me and unchained Melody are lifted straight from the ends of songs. Daydream Believer is one of the better sounding boot versions but ends a second or two before it should. I paid £20 for this double cd (NOT CDR) and was happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anybody after a good Popmart Audience Boot. M.L.K is not listed on the back cover but is tracklisted and Rain is listed as RAM. The front cover is a colour picture of the top half of Bono with his popmart bubble suit on with his shades on his forehead (I am lead to believe that this cover is from Leeds Popmart) the inlay features more pics and the back cover is a picture of Bono raising his arm alongside Adam and The Edge. More cd's are Orange with Rotterdam 1997 in black text. For additional comments about the sound or the concert, please see the review for POPDREAM BELIEVER FIRST NIGHT IN EUROPE. As far as content goes, these two sets seem to be identical. Even the bonus tracks are the same. The only downfall of this set is the "slim" packaging. There is a 4 panel booket, with the inner pages being a collage of black and white photes. Deluxe color cover with a picture of Bono giving almost a "Come on, pleeeease?" look to the crowd. Attractively presented, good sound; my advice - scoop this cd up the first chance you get. This is the original pressing on this label.
