"40" [2:42] Source: Unknown Digital Generation (via FLAC) >> WAV >> Editing in Adobe Soundbooth CS3 >> FLAC (Level 8) Channels: 2 (stereo) Sample Size: 16 bit Sample Rate: 44.1 KHz Rating: Ex + (Audience Recording) Rating: 9 of 10 Notes: This project was undertaken because the (demolished) Seattle Kingdome was a CEMENT MONSTER... Which was not great for LIVE RECORDING(s). So when a "really good" recording of U2's POPMART SEATTLE SHOW surfaced, it was a sad listen...because of the sound bouncing off the back of the stadium (and every other part of the stadium), until it got re-recorded by the microphones of the recorder. This .75 - to - 1.25 second delay caused nothing but a headache. You could NOT play the show loud...It was clear that a fix/remaster was needed. Since "New Year's Day" is the editor's favorite song, it was chosen as the baseline for getting the audio "right." When right, the editing was applied equally to all of the tracks/songs. After a 100 + hours of editing/tweaking and 50 + listens along the way, you hold in your hands the final product ~ KINGDOME R.I.P. ~ I hope you enjoy, as it was a struggle to master, but a treat in the end (imho)... Thank you to the original taper (unknown). Thank you to all tapers and traders! Thank you to U2 for so many years of joyous moments/experiences. NOTEABLES: CD 1 : Until The End Of The World : Audio missing from original source :: 03:16 to 03:31 : Replaced by a San Diego show ~ 1997.04.28 ~ which worked out best to match audio... : Of course, it isn't perfect... but atleast the song is complete. CD 1 : I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For : Bono dawns a SANTA HAT during his speech... and is "humbled by the Lord" CD 1 : All I Want Is You : One of the best ever played... w/ Bono exclaiming at the end... : "That's a bit rough The Edge!" CD 2 : Please : One of the best ever played... Hands-down!!! CD 2 : Wake Up Dead Man : Audio missing from original source :: 01:25 to 01:41 : Replaced by a different Seattle show ~ 1997.12.12 ~ CD 2 : A rare "40" is played... : Of (94) concerts played during the POPMART TOUR... : "40" is played ~ 4 Times ~ · 1997-11-26 - Atlanta, Georgia (USA) · 1997-12-12 - Seattle, Washington (USA) · 1998-01-31 - Sao Paulo, Brazil · 1998-03-21 - Johannesburg, South Africa : KINGDOME R.I.P. is used as the AUDIO TRACK for the DVD (2-Cam Mix) called GONE SEATTLE... ~ Bullet The Blue Sky was moved to DVD 2 (as compared to being on CD 1 of KINGDOME R.I.P.), ~ because it flowed better in video format, to have BTBS transition into PLEASE.
