Fortunately, it was virually non-existant in the concrete wasteland that is Kemper Arena. My buddy and I drove the 6 hours from northwest Iowa leaving at 5:00 am and pulled into the parking lot at 11:00 to already see the line that had formed. The temperature outside didn't get over 20 degrees that day and the winds were howling out of the north...typical midwest weather. I'd like to give a special thanks to the couple in line who went out and bought peppermint schnaps for all of us sitting out in the cold. It helped "warm" us up but if you guys ever read this I would like my blanket back that you borrowed. ;-) Anyway, on to the show: I turned down a position inside the heart in order to get an optimum taping spot just outside the tip of the heart about 10-15 feet back. The crowd around me was well behaved for the most part with just a couple of small exceptions like the guy who simply could not believe that they played "When I Look At the World". Thankfully I lifted my mics up and away from him so he is not as loud as he could have been. The whole band really seemed to be enjoying themselves and had big smiles the whole night. We were treated to an impromptu rendition of Desire and of course the rare snippet after Bad which was made by audience request. Bono's story about getting turned down a drink at the Uptown Theatre during I Will Follow was classic as well. It was really hard for me to keep quiet during the show because I had been so pumped after reading the previous setlists and hoped In Gods Country would make an appearance but we got Please instead. You can hear me trying to get them to play it right before they break into Please. I figured why not make the effort since they were looking right at me from 10 feet away. This is my first upload on U2Torrents and I would like to thank all of the generous tapers who haved shared their shows. Without tapers sites like this would not exist so my hat goes off to them.
