Lineage: Mixed & Mastered by Sharebear/Hoserama Mixed in Neundo 4, using extra waves & izotope plug-ins Dithered using Izotope MBIT+ Flac'ed using Trader's Little Helper Mix Version 12 Recording Notes: Solid two IEM pull coupled with the audience recording. However, I've been critical of the IEM mixes from the Elevation tour for a long time. They used some unnatural sounding compression techniques that make it hard on the ears sometimes. Some of it can be attributed to the scanner, but using the same equipment in 2005 yielded much better sounding recordings in my opinion. Then there's the click sound, where they seem to use some sort of sidechannel compression on the ambient mics that's triggered by the click. So I was able to filter most of the click, but can't make up for the unnatural sounding sound by the ambient mics change in volume. Then there's the audience recording. Not a great recording, not a bad one. I was able to zap a lot of the close claps but cheers and general crowd can still be heard. I used a sidechannel compressor to the IEM pull so as the IEM mix gets louder, the audience recording gets quiet. It's subtle but helps balance it. I've been working on this mix on and off for almost two years now. Never quite got the sound I was satisfied with, but I think I'm finally good with the final result. Sounds like I'm trashing it right? It's actually a solid enough mix in my opinion. Not something that I could pass off as an official recording or anything, but enjoyable to put on. Certainly an improvement over the raw sources in my opinion (yours may vary). Give it a whirl, see what you think. Show Notes: As the Elevation tour was winding down, the setlists started getting a bit shorter. Not a lot of setlist variety, as the band seemed to be getting tired by all the touring. But this show saw some nice gems with Knockin' On Heavens Door (with audience member) and In God's Country. This is technically the last time New York was played (and there was great sorrow across the land). Must have been a really good experience for folks who saw both the start and end of the tour in Miami (and hopefully multiple shows in between!). Final words: IEM recordings are not for everyone. If not they're not your thing, either sonically or ethically, there's still the existing excellent audience recording out there. Similarly, I'm mixing primarily for my ears. This is what sounds best to me. This may not sound the best to you. That's a fair statement. I'm open to honest criticism, but pointless complaining is unappreciated (naturally). Let's play nice. Please don't sell this recording in any way - no cash for blanks, 2:1s, or any other form of "getting paid for your time". Please don't convert from mp3 back to wave and trade around. This stuff is too easy to find on torrents now. Please do not attempt to remaster/remix this recording and spread it around. This has been heavily processed, and if you want to do your own mix, go get the wireless recordings (good luck) and do it yourself from scratch. Also, please don't torrent or post on other sites without at least dropping me a line and asking. I may want to just upload it there myself. Please ask (and wait for permission!) before putting it in any matrix + video. If you ask nicely I will likely say yes. Enjoy y'all Hoserama U2Torrents.com: Torrent 9619 (by sharebear)
