DAE is the enemy! Seriously, even with EAC (secure and tested, offset set properly, defragged hard drive), a clean DAT > wav> flac transfer is preferable to a DAT> wav> CD> EAC> wav> flac transfer. 
Ripping is the source of many errors, sometimes imperceptible or almost imperceptible. Some tapers use standalone CD recorders to transfer their DATs, so sometimes one round of DAE is going to happen.
Most people won't notice the difference, or don't care. But, for some it's a big deal.

Comment by thread: I did a plot spectrum with Audacity...I'm quite certain this is not mp3. Furthermore,I don't hear the clicks between tracks. I think HolyJoe has posted his comments on the wrong torrent. thread.
